How to Calculate Chargeable Weight
Air freight charges are based on the greater of the actual weight or volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is calculated using the formula:

Understanding Air Freight Charges
Volumetric Weight
Also known as dimensional weight (Dim Weight), calculated based on package size to account for space usage on the aircraft.
Actual Weight
The gross weight of the shipment including packaging, measured on a scale. Airlines charge based on whichever weight (Actual or Volumetric) is greater.
IATA Standard Divisor
The standard divisor is 6000 (for cm³/kg) or 166 (for in³/lb). Some courier services might use 5000, so always check with your carrier.
